#Defend the Defenders
#DefendTheDefenders is an 8-week campaign highlighting Indigenous peoples and other environmental defenders globally that are oppressed by governments and corporations, targeted for protecting their land. We are using #DigitalStrike and other online actions to raise international awareness and mount pressure on governments to address these issues. We will help strikers get involved with local campaigns. The #DefendTheDefenders conversation will be led by Indigenous youth, leaders, and communities, and other environmental defenders on the front lines.
Timeline
To provide space for dialogue to uplift an international and diverse community of indigenous peoples and climate activists, each week will be dedicated to a different region. The voices of regional land and environment defenders will be amplified to shed light on the destructive activities of polluters and their enablers in government.
